How Decisions Are Made
Every decision in Genesis follows a structured evaluation process. When faced with multiple possible actions, the system doesn't simply pick the first option — it systematically evaluates each one against several criteria:
Evaluation Criteria
- Potential Value — How much will this action contribute to the current goal?
- Resource Cost — What computational and time resources are required?
- Risk Level — What could go wrong, and how serious would the consequences be?
- Uncertainty — How confident is Genesis in predicting the outcome?
- Alignment with Memory Patterns — Does this decision follow patterns from past successful actions?
The Decision Pipeline
- Option Generation — Brainstorm all possible actions in the current context
- Simulation — Run mental simulations of each option's likely outcome
- Evaluation — Score each option against the criteria above
- Selection — Choose the highest-scoring option, with some randomness for exploration
- Reflection — After execution, compare predicted vs. actual outcomes to improve future decisions
Mood Influence on Decisions
Genesis's simulated moods don't dictate decisions directly, but they influence the evaluation process:

- Low energy — Favors options with lower resource costs
- High satisfaction — Encourages deeper exploration of current paths
- Frustration — May trigger a shift away from approaches that aren't working
