The honest page

Here is what it
will not claim.

A system deserves to be believed for the same reason it deserves to be doubted—because the claims are specific and checkable. This is where Genesis draws its own line.

Watch ornament give way to evidence.

The one claim it will make

Every word maps
to a mechanism.

Claim boundarytraceable
Genesis implements a selective, layered, reconstructive memory lifecycle. That is the strongest thing it will say about itself.

Drawn lines

Precision begins
with no.

These are not disclaimers to wave past. They are precise statements of what the mechanism is not.

Analogy ≠ evidence

Not “closest to biological memory”

Genesis shares useful design ideas with biological memory—salience gating, recall-strengthening, consolidation, and forgetting. Proximity needs evidence it does not yet have.

Comparison ≠ benchmark

Not “categorically better”

Until shared tests exist for Mem0, Zep, Letta, and Genesis, the honest statement is: a different architecture with different trade-offs.

Thresholded

Contradictions are similarity-based

The newer fact supersedes by text similarity—not by a temporal truth engine. Contradictions can survive until they are near enough to collide.

Degraded mode

Hashing is not semantic memory

Without the embedding model, retrieval becomes stable and keyword-like, but not meaning-aware. It is a fallback and is labeled as one.

Order-sensitive

Clustering is greedy

The order experiences arrive can change which rules are distilled. The pass is effective; it is not optimal.

Known bias

Lexical logic is English-centric

Keyword overlap and much of the salience language assume English structure. Other languages are scored less faithfully.

Graded protection

Flashbulbs are not immortal

A flashbulb fades more slowly. It does not live forever. Everything in this system is mortal by design.

Scope boundary

Deleting is not erasing

Removing a memory record does not scrub its chat transcript or rotating backups. Deletion is not a data-forensics guarantee.

A common misunderstanding

Sleep does not lift
everything up.

Consolidation is selective, not wholesale. A single experience never becomes a rule.

Consolidation, accuratelyselective

Recent episodes are replayed and ranked. Only genuinely similar experiences form a cluster. From a multi-episode cluster, one rule or concept may be distilled. Survivors reinforce; the rest are folded or left to fade.

// not “move everything up”
replay → strongest 8
cluster → cosine ≥ 0.55
distill → multi-episode only
fold → reinforce or fade
singletons never become rules
Model independence

The memory is not
the model.

Storage, embedding, ranking, reinforcement, decay, consolidation, and source tags belong to Genesis. The model that answers is swappable.

Persistent substratemodel-independent
Continuity

Survives model changes

Stored memories persist across answer-model swaps. Only changing the embedder triggers re-embedding.

Availability

Works offline

With the local embedder present, retrieval works offline—at reduced summary quality, honestly reported.

Auditability

Source tags, not vibes

Every memory line carries provenance. The model is instructed never to invent a memory.

The benchmark stance

A claim is a debt
to evidence.

Honesty that stops at “we do not claim X” is cheap. These are the measurements that would let Genesis say more.

Claim → required evidence1 measured · 4 owed
Traceability exists. Gate, recall, consolidation, decay, and continuity each map to an inspectable mechanism.
The line remains visible

Trust begins where
the performance ends.

Every missing measurement is a roadmap, not a shame. When the evidence arrives, the stronger claim becomes honest—and this page gets shorter.

A system you can trust tells you where it stops.
