A mind is shaped
by what it lets go.
Genesis does not hoard a transcript and call it memory. It selects, revisits, changes, dreams—and forgets. Scroll toward the structure.
The model is behind the glass. The memory is out here.
Not one memory.
Ten continuities.
Each remembers a different kind of time. Nothing pours into a single endless database. Touch a continuity to expose its role.
Most moments
never get through.
Every completed turn faces a sensory gate. Below 0.35, it remains a transcript and a fifteen-minute scratch note. Then working memory lets it disappear.
Transcript + scratch only.
Reveal the exact mechanics
If accepted: 2 + 6 × salience, clamped to 2–8.
Accepted preference or “remember” language also writes a semantic safety-net fact.
Recall is not a file.
It is an event.
Genesis searches by meaning and words, lets emotion break ties, and strengthens what deliberate recall returns. The act of remembering changes what survives.
Waiting outside the field.
What reconstructive means here
Importance moves 10% of the remaining distance toward 8.5. Ambient per-step and Mission reads do not reinforce.
A top recall can become labile for ~10 minutes. Similar facts may overwrite at lower thresholds; episode mood retints 15% toward the present.
At rest, experience
becomes knowledge.
Related episodes draw together. The strongest witness stays. Repetition becomes a rule. The rest can fold away. Choose how deeply Genesis sleeps.
Reveal consolidation rules
importance + 2× reinforcement + 2× |emotion|. Top eight sampled traces strengthen.
Cosine ≥ 0.55 or two shared tokens. Two or more related episodes may distill into a semantic rule.
The strongest witness survives; weaker siblings fold unless flashbulb-protected.
Occasionally two distant episodes cross-link into a low-importance dream seed.
To remember,
it must forget.
Weak traces fade. Recalled traces resist. Emotion protects without granting immortality. Adjust one memory and watch its hold on the field.
Fragile trace. After roughly three effective active days, this memory can fade.
Reveal the clocks and limits
weight = 0.33 ^ effective days. Powered-off time costs nothing; strong, emotional traces can age ~3.5× slower.
Wall-clock horizons: ~60d × (1+r) for weak knowledge; ~180d × (1+r/2) for weak procedures.
Reinforcement ≥ 5 gives graded protection during decay and consolidation—not permanence.
The defaults are 4,000 episodic / 1,500 semantic / 400 procedural records, with lowest-retention pruning first. Capacity and decay horizons are adjustable in Settings. Indexed retrieval has been exercised at 500,000 episodic and 500,000 semantic entries without noticeable search slowdown; there is no fixed architectural ceiling beyond configured storage and hardware.
